Is there any other La9s anywhere?

I know OFMC has only flying one just wondered if any are in musuems or are there any restoration projects?i know only little on the type but think its lovely shape and with Lee Proudfoot flying its quiet a mover.

Cool, I’m surprised you haven’t found someone to import it into Aussie John.

Where is it based at the moment? Wanaka?

Hi

I think the La9 will stay in NZ for a while more – just a rumor but I heard it was staying.

Regards
John

You may laugh, just wait until we find a pair of RR Peregrines and get that Westland Whirlwind flying – well I can dream can’t I?

Unfortunately the OFMC La9 is in New Zealand. To be honest I don’t think she will be coming back which is a pity

Doesn’t Kermit Weeks have an La9 or La11? Seem to recall hearing something along those lines.

Kermit owns a La9 I’ve seen it up and close.

Cheers

Is the OFMC LA-9 back in England again? Or is the list just out of date? Last I read it was here in New Zealand.

There are a small number of survivang La-9s and 11’s in static condition, most of them in China, where they are nearly all on outdoor display. There was an article about late-series Lavochkins in Aeroplane a couple of months back which had a survivors listing I can dig out for you.I’ll dig it out and post again later…
