I saw these for sale recently, they are supposed to be axles from the Cody VA military flying machine. Can any one tell me if this is true ?.

They did and then there was one of those relationship issues that the “Trouble up North” thread is all about. The problem is that the bad feeling lasts long after the persons’ involved have departed and no one can remember what the argument was about in the first place.
Mention of Middle Wallop prompts me to mention the fact that the Museum’s display of all things RFC and its predecessors (including Cody) is undergoing a radical redevelopment in time for the RFC’s 100th aniversary.

The peron selling it, claims to be a grandson of SF Cody.
Axles, should have read axle “dodgy digit at this end lol”.:o
I have contacted the sfcody org, & hope that they may be able to help.
I’m thinking of acquiring it for use in a trade of some discription.

Did you enquire as to its provenance? If so, what information was proffered by the vendor?
Furthermore you speak of axles (in the plural). Do the photographs each illustrate a separate axle or are they two images of one axle? Ignoring the ‘nose wheel’ arrangement, the photograph of the Cody No. V A indicates only one axle to the undercarriage.

Hi Bob.
I am sure you have seen this website: http://sfcody.org.uk/aero.html
I’ll leave it to you to decide whether the axle matches the picture……
