Is this an historic event or a CGI stunt Red Bulls fly through hangar at Llanbedr

Would wrong forum police please say where this should have been posted.

HISTORIC event two Red Bull planes fly through hangar at Llanbedr. Genuine or CGI publicity stunt?

Cannot watch it myself as poor bandwidth here.

In 1938ish, a Hawker Fury was flown through Hanger No 3 at RAF Debden by “Dickie” Lee, for the George Formby film “It’s In The Air”… and judging by earlier posts, done at least twice before that by Udet and Mantz.

With the Russian Knights record maybe they should give it a miss!

Their safety record is no worse than the Red Arrows – nor many other aerobatic teams – what’s your point ???

It’s neither….
It’s not CGI and it’s not historic. It is VERY impressive but to answer the original question…. Neither!

I wonder if this was the Llanbedr Bellman they flew through. A Meteor lost an engine on take off, tore a wing through the roof and ended up inside the Bessonneau hangar in the background. The pilot survived and eventually flew 748s for Emerald Airways up to his retirement. Sadly, he is no longer with us.

What’s the tail dragger in the background. Firefly?

PS There was a story back in 2006 that one of the Russian Knight’s Su-27 Flankers was going to fly through a ‘cave’ in China…..

Nothing ever came of it though……

Without a doubt.

Wasn’t there something about Sidney Harbour Bridge or was that just a good Aussie story?

Surely the Americans have done something?

Kiwi aviation personality Fred Ladd flew a Widgeon under the Auckland Harbour Bridge in 1967, but he wasn’t the first.

Note that Brendon Deere’s Avenger is in Fred’s wartime markings.

ISTR talk of a RNZAF Sunderland sneaking under it at some point as well.

Hi All,
Believe or not actually Real! BD-5J Micro Jet…

The flying through the hangar wasn’t real however and look closely and you can see the pole the aircraft is mounted on to move it through the hangar!

Wish you had pointed that out earlier I can hardly ask Moggy to make another correction now can I.:D

You should be able to edit your own posts……..

On your first post select ‘Edit’ – then ‘Go Advanced’ – there is a box there with the thread title in it – I think you can change it.

Cheers

Hi All,
Believe or not actually Real! BD-5J Micro Jet…

…but with the ‘hangar door closing’ film superimposed on the that of the aircraft flying through the open doors. Thus a freeze of the ‘exit’ frames show an impossible gap in the combined films. So ‘sort of’ real. (this bit) –

Flying through a hangar is child’s play – flying through a HANGER – now that would be impressive !!

Sorry – I’ll get my coat.

That is scary. Either very brave or very foolish. Considering what they do for a day job I would hesitate to call either of them foolish. Full marks for some superbly accurate flying.
