A friend in Oz was sent this by E-mail. According to the notes it was a Russian Airliner with a “Battleship” version. Looks fake to me but would be interested if anyone else has seen this………….

Thankyou one and all.
I have since had a good close up look at the truck and people near it!
Sorry, I did not see the 2008 thread.
It would appear that somebody has done a CGI based on a much smaller aircraft.
Anyway thanks again for all the URLs, fascinating stuff………….Digger
But that ‘much smaller aircraft’ was a GIANT in its day….
The Kalinin K-7, built in 1933, had a span of 173 ft (53m), had seven M-34F engines and a takeoff weight with max bombload of 42.4t.
It crashed on its ninth flight – vibration in the tailbooms caused structural breakup…

Those CGI images also appeared on englishrussia.com
They are pure fanciful interpretations of the orginal idea of gigantic bomber which was thought of just after the first world war (?)

Info on this website is sometimes left open to debate though!

Although well researched/referenced (some elements did exist in Russian design and have been ‘super-sized’ in the creation of the illustration), it’s complete CGI fiction – albeit well done…
Somewhere here I have a collection of similar ‘fantastics’ and other odd-balls that were published in a, ahem… “Gentleman’s Magazine” some years back
