Is this picture genuine ?

This picture was posted on another forum (non aviation) I frequent.
Said to be the Sally-B flying over “Grafton Underwood”. I may be wrong, but I get the
impression that the Sally-B has been cut and pasted, it just doesn’t look right.
Also no blurring on the houses, if someone was panning for the shot.

Thoughts ?

Alan – are you quite sure we do not know this joker!!:p:D

Nahhh… 🙂

It was on a non aviation forum (the original picture), and posted in good faith. The Concorde one was posted
by someone taking the mickey.

On the same forum, some joker did this.

Always that element of doubt. 🙂

Compare with a Google Earth Streetview and all the lamp posts, road signs , overhead wires and TV antenna are gone …ridgethatch has been done since the photo on nearest cottage.Chimney pots removed in the Sally version.

Fake or a better term “composite” but nice effort and works well, well done to the artist! perhaps better working the b17 to a wartime look and trailing a thin smoke trail? maybe Black & White? 😀

Picture break down…

https://www.dropbox.com/s/91znndlggrnqm02/AI.jpg?dl=0

The car picture is a different photo, as can be seen by the cloud position, foliage, pavement, shadows and camera angle, although Photoshop has been used in area’s of the “Period” image where both lamp post and road sign positions have been altered, badly…

To me the one with the aircraft has had minimal Photoshop chicanery as mentioned above and the other an entirely different image taken at another time…

By the look of the cars, namely the Vauxhall Astra, the picture would have been taken between 1991 – 1998…

However, Sally B DID overfly Grafton Underwood during May as part of the service held there for the 384th BG. And there are people with genuine photos of the event too………

There is also a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm792otliAE

Apart from the rather obvious photo shopping. Maybe it is genuine and someone has tried to make it look realistic
to the period. The image of Sally-B just doesn’t look right. Compared to the quality of the cottage images.

Also, as someone pointed out. When the video from the airfield was taken, the sky was heavily overcast.
Very few blue bits.

Think its fake. The second thatched house ( middle house) is thatched in Combed wheat reed. This did not start to be used until the 60’s around that area. It would have been thatched in Long Straw. Also not many house would have a decorative ridge pattern unless it was thatched in Norfolk reed, as the other thatched house has which is thatched in Long straw.

The breadth of knowledge on this forum never fails to impress 🙂

Looks as though they were busting the 500 ft rule unless they had dispensation for the fly past. What the heck, it’s a nice picture anyway.

Well we’ve established it’s not the same shot, just similar, and we have established – to my satisfaction – that the street scene has been heavily photoshopped to make it more period.

But it could still be that it is a modern day shot of a Sally B flypast with just the scenery ‘aged’?
