OK, so it’s not strictly “historic”, but the design dates back to mid-60s/ early-70s, and I think it was the first attempt at a practical Spitfire replica.
Anyway, I was just wondering whether anyone might have some photos of the prototype?? I’ve only ever seen a handful of photos of it (most of them in John Isaacs’ book) and would be interested in seeing some more if people had them.
(I’ll put this in the GA forum, too)

Call it what you like but don’t call it a Spitfire.

Looks good, even if it’s quite different from the original!

Current picture…?

I might be able to make the GNFI with the Isaacs Spitfire, which is on 22nd/23rd Sept except that my trailer is occupied with my T61 motorglider. However the current picture of it in mock-up might be of interest. Alan.

I Like it 🙂

Yeah, the Isaacs looks nice from just about every angle (until you get to the front! 😮 )
Would love to see the photos of Bill’s project. He had a nicely-moulded canopy made the last time I saw.

Isaac spitfire
Great photos, Its always nice to see different shots of the Isaac, they seem to to do it more justice than others.
Darren… Alan is in contact with Bill, he sent me a couple of photos of the cowling work,I will try and put them on here.
As for the original, as far as I know it still sits in the hanger at Shipdon awaiting repair.

Hi Alan, Thought I might find you here and Mr Cogdon too.
So whats all this about shelving your plans Daza, and just when I have bought mine!..Retracts, flaps, Jabaru motors.
Bills must be ready for top coat by now as the engine is in and the cowling is all done.
I e-mailed Bill a while back but the message simply bounced back, so no idea where he’s up to with his kite. Must be “almost there” by now…?!
Chris – thanks for those pics. Always like seeing new photos of this aircraft. 🙂

Anyone know, how BBJI is coming along since her accident a few years back when she jumped the chocks.Hope she’s up and flying by now.A lovely well built little plane,I was very impressed with the build quality when I did the permit renewal on her before she was sold to a new owner who had the mishap with her.

Did you get any wood costs for the wings as I am at the quote stage and am expecting the wings not to be cheap. I want to build mine under the ULM cat, in France because you can build as you want and mod as you want and if you are a complete ****, buy all your materials from B&Q. (Not that I would). BUT the max empty weight is 306kg and the Isaac is about 366kg.
So the upshot is, It needs a diet plan!.
By building it under the ULM cat, I can change the complicated fuselage frames for one piece frames without lengthy LAA intervesion and I hopefully can save weight using a modern motor etc.
Where are you upto with yours Alan?

Alan, will you still be turning up?

Isaacs Spitfire
I mentioned that my Isaacs Spitfire would be displayed at the Great Northern Fly-In this weekend – 30th June, 1st July 2012. Unfortunately this has been postponed to 15th – 16th September owing to the uncertain weather – more appropriate date though.

Aye, shelved, pretty much.
This ones has been ongoing for some time…. Maybe sometime soon!
Nice as it is, it’s not an Isaacs. That’s a 75% scale Jurca MJ.10. Hope it’ll fly soon, though.
