Israel Beaufighter's

I have been over at Axl’s plane gallery again 😉

And there is now a really good profile story on the Beau, by a dude called Leon Kay, he’s done a fantastic job 😮 .

That’s quiet a story on how Israel got her few Beau’s off the Pome’s :p

Comment’s please from the peanut gallery 😀

Moggy,
there was an article a good while back in Flypast (I think) about the RAF’s role in Palistine where they said on at least one of those incidents the guns hadn’t been cocked, and this was deliberate policy rather than the armours being gash. Net result, at least one pilot was killed. The policy was then changed…..

Did he mean Poms?

All is now clear.

Interesting because I was talking to an ex-Israeli Airforce guy over the weekend who swears that when the Israeli’s shot down some RAF fighters they were well pleased with themselves. The gloss was taken off it a little when they discovered that none of the RAF Spitfires and Tempests were carrying any ammunition.

Urban legend or truth?
