Just spent five brilliant days in Turkey photographing some very exotic aircraft in mostly perfect weather. Spent three days at Istanbul Ataturk airport and then flew on Atlasjet to Antalya to spend another two days. Met some fellow photographers at the famous FlyInn Mall and later joined two of them in Antalya, Marcel (marcelb on this forum) and Steve. The other photographer Gary was flying back to Belfast so missed Antalya.
The first batch are aerial shots taken in the morning from the beach of runway 05 arrivals. Nearly 95% of traffic landed here so we didn’t miss much stuff at all…

Cheers folks. Here are some ground shots. Only showing a few of the Turkish ones out of the hundreds of Turkish movements….

More great shots. The first time I’ve seen an Iran Air A320. I agree, that Azeri A340 is a stunner!

Great, a real mix there. A lot of Eastern European airliners are quite old fashioned looking. As for Azerbaijan… 🙂

Cheers folks. Here are some more taken from the beach….

…and the undoubted star of the show which got all of us pretty giddy….

This beauty replaced the usual B767 for two of the three days.
I have loads of other Turkish, Atlasjet and Onur Air but I’ll leave these out.
I’ll share the shots taken from the FlyInn mall later. Thanks for looking…

Great pics! No prizes for guessing my favourite one 🙂 Apparently, the numerical characters on Afriqiyah aircraft, were tied in with the Gadaffi regime. It refers to something called the Sirte Declaration, which was signed on the 9.9.99, so I guess it had to go. Personally I never liked the old colours, political or not.

Afriqiyah in new colors? Never seen them. Must be because they are still banned from Europe.
Good start to the topic, I’ll be looking for more. 🙂

Great stuff Gary(?)!!! Some lovely shots there ~ Love the Uzbekistan and the Afriqiyah especially. Looking forward to seeing the Antalya pics too.
It really was a great trip to IST, but I regret not going to Antalya now having heard the feedback from you guys.

Gary
