….. Seeing as Spitfire AR213 is for sale, why don’t we as a forum create a proper “peoples Spitfire”? not an appeal, but get a shares club together.
As a for instance, the price is £3 million, so if shares were offered at £50 per annum – not an unreasonable cost, potentionally you would need a maxiumum of 60,000 share holders- if shares were kept to the maximum number of shares at 20 per share holder, no individual would have overall ownership.
The initial year would raise the purchase and subsiquent years the operation and admin cost. As an incentive the aircraft could not only be able to perform at airshows, but have a Bi annual tours across the country to participating airfields or even on an international scale where share holders have a chance to see their Spitfire.
Lets face it, the Spitfire is a much loved icon and there are many people who would buy into such a project & it’s a more enjoyable investment than a bank – it’s just a thought.
