Italian mid air at airshow, one dead one survived

Not good, but seeing the crash I was stunned to see the other pilot managed to ditch alongside the crowd line, talk about nowhere to put it down, he was very very lucky.

Looks like the exit from the mirror went very wrong, doesn’t seem to be a positive push to give separation from the aircraft below?
Looks like Luigi did a very good job in getting the aircraft down, damage to port wing must have made handling interesting.

Regrettably friends of a friend.

Luigi was the guy who put it into the surf and survived. Marco wasn’t so lucky.

The RV6 and 7 have a choice of sliding, or tip-up canopy. Having watched that, where he came in with the canopy open which is something you can’t do with a tip-up, I am glad mine’s a slider
