excerpt:
Italian civil aviation authority ENAC is recommending that the European Union collectively abandon pricing controls, Reuters reported. The proposal effectively would strike down provisions in bilateral air service agreements allowing a national civil aviation authority to demand that a flag carrier’s rivals do not undercut prices on some international routes. “ENAC proposes to the Italian government that it suspends the initiative in view of the EU’s readiness to put in place a regulation soon, as long as there is reciprocity from all the EU countries,” ENAC President Vito Riggio said.
Bad form, total and shameless bad form.

Hmmmmm…… if one were not a gentleman, one might mention the “discounts” that Ryanair enjoyed on their B737-800 order.
Luckily, one is a gentleman, so one won’t. 🙂

What they are suggesting goes against everything the EU
stands for…
Just as it did when the CAA made similar representations to Alitalia on behalf of BA a couple of years ago.

Got anything to back that up? A link perhaps.
Errr….. how about the very article that you linked to? 😉

I find it quite amusing that everyone is moaning about Alitalia asking BA to increase its prices, when BA sucessfully managed to persuade Alitalia to increase its prices several years ago!
never heard of that.
