I was given a large number of photos and albums this weekend, by an old friend from my 1950’s spotting days who’s moving house. This Spitfire XVI was amongst them.

Thank you Mk.12. There are a couple more Spitfires but are the usual suspects (eg AB910) and this from a Cardington postcard which I suspect is LA255.

Is that the one that was at Upper Hill near Leominster, that was sold to the States back a bit ago? The code seems to ring a bell.

TD135 Tynmouth Towers ATC.
I’ll comeback with more details after the GP.
Mark
Preston Towers, Tynemouth. No. 346 (South Shields) Sqdn of the Air Training Corps.
It arrived in November 1950 with ‘in service’ silver finish still coded NG-U with serial TD135.
Some time before July 1960 it was camouflaged but with no serial.
It has been converted to ‘high back’ and currently is in Belgian private hands and will fly in the course of time.
Might there be anymore Spitfires in those albums….1950’s shots from ‘Up North’? 🙂
