About two years ago, I posted a photo on here of a Hurricane being restored here in Colorado for all to see….this was followed about 24 hours later by a phone call from the restorer, telling me to remove the photo or face legal consequences….so I removed the photo and thought no more of it. Well, a friend sent me a link yesterday to http://www.faireyfirefly.com, Eddie Kurdziel’s site for his Firefly, and there was a link to QG Aviation here in Colorado, the shop that restored the Firefly and Ray Middleton’s operation…so I clicked on it and there was a photo of Ray at the Bottom of the page….standing in front of this VERY Hurricane that he asked me to remove from these pages! Ray told me at that time that the owner of the Hurricane (either the Lone Star museum or Robert Waltrip himself, I’m guessing…he never said) did’nt want photos of the Hurricane out and about before the plane flew (interesting, also, that as Ray told me this, the official Lone Star website had a photo of the Hurricane on it’s site)…
I have to wonder how much trouble I would get in for posting that pic now, what with all these OTHER ‘classified’ Hurricane pics popping up all over the place?

MH603 is/was owned by Joe Scogna who also owns P-51D “Baby Duck”. Saw this plane when I visited Ft. Collins in 1994, as well as the Firefly and Hurricane. Does anyone know if “Baby Duck” flies anymore? Seems that since Jeff Ethell’s death the plane didn’t do many shows!

Mk12…if you say so…supposedly it belonged to a doctor in Massachusetts or somewhere…not sure it’s not up for sale now.

Not classified here.
No, the Spitfire is another ‘classified’ project that I am AMAZED to see in the photo behind Ray’s head, he was always very hush hush about that (it is a Mk. 9, if I recall) and it’s been there for years, hanging from that ceiling…

As for getting invited back to Ray’s hangar, it’s gonna take a freaking SUMMIT between me and Ray to get back in there…more’s the pity…just three doors down from Ray’s shop is Darrell Skurich’s place, where I’m welcomed with open arms because I wrote a piece about their Zero they are restoring and it actually HELPED in the restoration when folks came forth and volunteered parts! Go figure…

Quoting:
“Aircraft currently under restoration include a Hawker Hurricane, a Supermarine Seafire,”
What Seafire? Is that the fuselage hanging up?

And of course “don’t mention the Spitfiire fuselage behind!”
