GUNS80

Having written more than my share of news releases, I would not put too much stock in the use of “unique”.

The writer, who may, or may not, know about military vehicles could have used the term to denote the fact they are uncommon….not strictly “unique” or one of a kind.

In today’s world, any WWII vehicle is unique compared to a Honda.

Some might call a Spitfire unique if parked among Cessnas, but it’s not the only one out there.

It does say unique vehicles which doesn’t suggest they are duplicates and as the news is from Pima’s end its hardly a fundraising pitch by IWM. As for Montys Caravan in this day and age some of his beliefs might make undesirable.

The link says the IWM would transfer items, but it doesn’t say items from the Land Warfare Hall. Anyone care to wager they have multiples of some items and things in storage?

Also, a lot of the Duxford Military vehicles & equipment is UK centric. If Pima wanted to expand, there are plenty of military vehicles in North America.

Again, the link does not say the crown jewels of the land warfare collection, like Month’s truck, is being sent.

Sounds a bit like VTTS”s “Give us money or the yanks will buy 558 and you’ll never see it again” ploy which, to the best of my knowledge was not based on reality.

Surely If the IWM didn’t want tanks etc they should be offered to the Tank Museum?

What about Monty’s caravans?

It does seem unlikely that there has been nothing reported in the national press.

Looking on the Historic Military Vehicle forum this is not true according to someone who has IWM contacts. Although it makes you wonder why Pima would announce something not thats not true.
