I went back and tried to add this to the MiG-19 thread I started a few months back, but I can’t find it listed anymore so I figured I’d change the scope just slightly and see if anyone contributes. The last thread was reasonably, successful and given the fact that while the MiG-19 seems to remain in service in only one place (Zambia if what I’ve read is correct), the J-6 & Q-5 derivatives are a bit more widespread in operational service even today.
I’ll start off by asking if anyone can tell me about the FT-6’s of the Bangladesh Air Force. The information that seems to come up frequently is that the BAF has 12 FT-6’s for use as a lead-in trainers for the Q-5 fleet.
Does anyone know how many are still operational? Are they all assigned to 25 Squadron (which I believe also operates the L-39 Albatross)? (This may have been discussed in the previous thread, but seeing as it’s been deleted, I felt it was okay to bring it up.)
