Did all the Everrett stock originally go out to tender, or does it not work like that anymore:confused:

so out of interest, How much does a jaguar cockpit go for and how easy is it to find the parts to complete it?
I have been finding it not too difficult to get parts as there seems to be a flood of surplus bits at the moment, that is one of the main reasons I bought one although some people are requesting exorbitant prices for otherwise useless articles.

Jags at Cosford
From my days on the AFTS (Airframe Training Squadron) at Cosford as a trainee rigger I can confirm that the AFTS hangar at least was full of ground instructional Jaguar airframes which we used for hydraulic rig testing and panel replacement procedures. Mechanically they were in quite good order, being jacked up and having the gear retracted most days throughout the many courses running, though the panelwork was somewhat “war” weary from having ham-fisted baby riggers sprawling over them with RAF issue GS screwdrivers that didn’t quite fit the fastner heads any more.
The sooties on the other hand had some runners on the airside part of the school along with the JP’s on the Flight Line School which were used for ground running tests and demo’s, and for trainee liney’s to crawl into the intakes and down the nacelle to check the turbine blades for FOD damage. Invariably the instructor would send the largest member of the course down the soothole, just to watch him get stuck and need hauling out by the feet. Happy days!
This was all a bit of a while back (late 90’s) so things may well have changed, but thought I’d share anyway because I can 😀

Please enlighten me, why would the MOD buy back spares for an aircraft out of service?
Paul
A number of the aircraft have been kept ‘live’ and are being used for start and taxying around the airfieid as part of one of the courses there IIRC.
Plus those that are in ‘non ground running’ order do occationally wear out components.
Only quoting what someone at Cosford told me, and considering the great job the MOD have done in selling off the redundant frames and UK Surplus have done in selling off the spares cache, frankly I’m not suprised they find themselves having to buy parts back !

This is a picture of the aircraft they have at Bentwaters.
Maybe possible resale to the indians?
Well kind of doubtful? Because HAL just ended its second production run of Jaguars (17 two seaters and 20 single seaters). All deliveries complete by next year, after which DARIN-3 upgrade to avionics and systems will start for the first 2-3 squadrons of Jags bought directly from the UK.
Per HAL figures, around ~85% of airframe and engine spares are being made locally, and for the rest, I presume they wouldnt be too common with the RAF airframes which had a different engine too & different avionics.

They have a “war reserve” at cosford also trainee enginerrs use them to strip down and get moden jet experience
So if the russians attack i should think they might be brought back into service 😀

I believe he does not need to look that far, from what I’ve heard he’s got a nice buisness at present selling spares back to the MOD for the ‘fleet’ in use at Cosford…..
Oh and the price of his non flyers has gone up to £10k now:eek: according to the website.
I have a mixture of admiration for Everett’s buisness accumen and sheer frustration with the shortsightedness of the MOD for selling them off so cheaply in the first place.

I was always curious as to why one outfit wanted to buy all those Jags, was there a perceived oversees second hand market or something?

Love that proviso, ‘could be made to fly if missing items are fitted’, oh yes, it needs engines as well! It won’t be flying in the U.K.
That BAE will not support a flying civiee Jag in the UK, which kills any chance of getting a CAA permit to fly is well known. However somebody else in the world does still support Jaguar. Would a foreign company be allowed to do what was done with the Vulcan the UK?
