Not sure if this should go on AFM forum but I was told today that the “saint” image on the display Jaguar might be painted over so as not to course offense to Muslims etc.
I wont name the person who told me but he is very well informed and not the sort of person to play jokes etc.

I will try and find out more next time I talk to this person.
I was in fact discussing another matter with him and the “saint” came up for a second thats all.

Surely there is a case of double standards here. Why has no mention been made of changing the name “Jaguar” as it could be seen to cause offence to dog lovers?

I think you’ll find the 16 Sqn. useage predates Leslie Chateris. Indeed it was maybe the inspiration for his stick figure.

Is their “Saint” motif based on the drawings used on the cover of the Leslie Charteris books – and of course the Roger Moore and Ian Ogilvy TV series?
Will ITV be banned from showing re-runs of those series?
I hope this “rumour” is just that – a rumour.

re
I doubt any Islamics would even know what the emblem on the tail means. Neither would 90% of airshow goers.
Come to think of it, I’ve never seen any Islamics at Airshows, a few Jews and thats about it.
How about the Turks remove the crescents from their tails?

if this is true then it’s political correctness gone crazy. If we are going to be that ridiculous, we had better remove all the russian markings from russian aircraft displayed in the UK, all the saudi markings from f53 lightnings in the uk,all swiss markings etc etc.
