RE: Jal best in the air?

I’ve flown ANZ twice between L.A. and Sydney, once in business class, and once in a ecomony. Both times I’ve had a very favorable experience. They’re easily the 2nd best airline I have flown.

RE: Jal best in the air?

Air New Zealand used to have them but they had to stop using them as passengers got scared because they caught a glimpse of another plane once. (Unusual for Air New Zealand to listen to the concerns of their passengers, usually the passengers can go to hell as far as they are concerned!!!) I like the idea of the cameras though.

I fly United regurlarly. I’ve flown on every aircraft in their fleet, both domestic and international. I’ve never once been able to view outside scenery through a external camera. Are we talking about a different UA?

RE: Jal best in the air?

BMi have them on their A330’s aswell!

You get 2 views… one downwards, and one forwards. Although on the downwards one all I could see was clouds for most of the 7 hour flight!!!

And also, you get this game thing called “Go Moku” Which is like Connect 4, only you have to get 5 in a row… It’s IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! I managed to tie with it… but that’s it!! The computer knows what to do and when to beat you!!!

Air Lanka also used to have external cameras on there A330s which were damaged beyond repairs in the attack on Colombo airport by the LTTE.

RE: Jal best in the air?

hi Glenn,

Yes external cameras. UK charter Airline ‘My Travel’ is the only other airline i know that operates aircraft with them (only their A330 aircraft). I’m sure there are other airlines that do.

I’m not sure exactly where the cameras are positioned or how they are fixed to the aircraft. From a picture I would guess at one of them being forward of the nose wheel bay.

My Travel operate the cameras primarily on takeoff and landing i think. Inflight would be pointless.

Maybe someone has information on this???

>external cameras?

I have never heard of this before, interesting. Where exactly would they be mounted?

I have never flown JAL, but I have known people who work for them, and with my love for the Japanese its only a matter of time before I am on one of their flights. 🙂

Regards, Glenn.

RE: Jal best in the air?

My Uncle recently flew JAL Sydney to Paris CDG. Apparently the flights were good. He liked the fact that you had external cameras on the 747 where views could be selected by the passenger.

Ben
