Are people aware of Harry Fusao O’Hara? This Japanese gentleman was a remarkable man and the only Japanese pilot on the western front. He was a friend of my Grandfather’s in the Middlesex Regiment on the Somme, but Mr O’Hara later moved into the RFC , crashing several times, and had already received the Military Medal. He had travelled from Japan via India and the Sikh regiment and Gurkhas to London to then join the Middlesex. HIs daughter lives in Holland and I have inherited toys that he carved for my grand-father’s future children. He has his own website here: https://greatwarlondon.wordpress.com/2013/04/23/harry-fusao-ohara-japanese-fighter-pilot-1918/#comments
I think it is a terrific story. Is he well-known?
