James- AKA JDK
Has after much thought and procrasternation aquired his first Warbird – the well Known P51 Big Beautiful Doll as recently spirited away from Leg Ends 2005 by none other than I and transfered back on a Singapore 747. The aircraft was then transfered to James’s extensive workshop facility at Northcote Victoria where he is seen in the accompanying photo surveying the components to ensure the reconstruction is well positioned to proceed. James was full of Praise for the standard of workmanship on his new aquisition and was heard to mutter in low hushed voice “Crap those Bas%$#ds ” I will get even for this etc etc” and lots of other words of encouragement which I didn’t understand, to his fellow forumites. James was too overcome with emotion to coment more fully himself but wanted all of those of you in the UK that facilitated this venture to know that he will remember your names forever.

Careless of you. Aren’t they at Lords still?
I was speaking metaphorically.
I don’t know we give them the right to self determination and in return they steal our historic aircraft and give us gramma lessons. Flippin Colonials

I think that was very thoughtful of you, obviously it was a difficult decision to make, it must have taken you at least 30 seconds!
By: EN830 - 14th August 2005 at 13:45
I think it’s terrible, you go to all that time and effort to return the model to it’s rightful owner, and then he gives it away to the first waif and stray who comes his way.
I can say honestly say that when the ashes return to their rightful home, it will take more than a glass of cheap oz vino to prize them away again.

James, I hope you aren’t suggesting you have given it away after all the trouble and enjoyment it gave everyone getting it to you and waiting for your reaction!
Someone was clearly able to take greater care of it than I would. He’d nursed it for a long time and a long distance. I did the decent thing.

Mate Stealing aircraft is never easy unless you are an Australian – except in the UK where they only fly them once a year to show off for their mates at a certain airshow – so nobody notices they have gone for six months, but the manacles don’t seem to be a real problem. It’s the loo breaks where they can be a bit of a bugger!Regards

When are you here next???
I might buy you a beer.

True but I think there may well be a black hole linking OW and Wangarratta. Wang could never be described as anything but ugly but magic happens there the same as OW – just different magic.

Is it difficult to fly aircraft with manacles fitted?

Will it be seen sporting RAAF markings in the near future to replace the one being grounded ?
Ask the new owner. 😉
It wasn’t winter when you decamped though, was it James?
?@Rob. How long into Feburary does your summer tan last?
