Any new pics/infos from Heron AORG? Was she at the Show?
Martin
Last time I went past Classic flights hanger she was parked on their apron looking slightly forlorn :(. The only answer I could get on her fate was ‘political issues’

4 Min display, nice and close from where I was stood.

Yep, left Brize at 15:00, arrived over St Helier 16:15, depart St Helier 16:19
Bit of a dissapointment really – seemed a very overcautious, short display – a long way from the display line and high. Blink and you’d have missed the pass with the bomb-bay doors open 🙁
I heard several comments re. the Vulcan such as “…dunno what all the fuss was about” which is a shame as it can be (and always used to be) the most impressive thing at a display.
The Typhoon was impressive though – very loud and very spirited. :diablo:

She did land on her last RAF display there but the previous year a request to land was refused
They had to meet special criteria to allow the landing on the last tour and from what I remember it was special permission rather than permission.
Of course things change, that was a long time back now and XH558 is in early days so maybe one day…….

With 1 day to go the latest up date has been published, we’ve lost the AWACs and BBMF DC3 and gained the AN(yawn)2, still, it’s is free and I shouldn’t grumble.

Wx looking a bit marginal, though clearing later in the afternoon; Can’t see weather being a reason for the Vulcan cancelling, but I won’t be surprised if it is a no show…
Have a good day if you are going… may see you there.

A number of reasons
There are a number of reasons why she is unable to land at Jersey although she did all thoses years ago.
One I understand is the lack of landings some of the crew memebers have done.
It has not helped with a number of her displays being cancelled.
All be sevicable she will be there and I understand she will be meeting up with the Reds before her display with the Reds to follow to end the display.
Fingures crossed and him up stairs being kind with the weather we could be seeing a very nice display?
By: EN830 - 3rd September 2008 at 23:22
Wasn’t too small for her the year she retired, I have video footage of her taking off from the airport.
By: Arabella-Cox - 3rd September 2008 at 22:10
As I understand it, the Vulcan isn’t going to land at Jersey – something to do with a CAA restriction (runway too short?)
That is disappointing as I was going to install myself at the Aero Club bar to watch her, just to get that howl….
Weather – fingers crossed, though not looking too good due to the raft of low pressure systems waiting in the wings. 😡

Now do I sacrifice a virgin or a goat to the gods for good weather ?
I’m going to sacrifice both, to give us a fighting chance!:diablo:

On the news yesterday, Vulcan will be in Jersey but the airshow is still short of funds.
As hard as it maybe to swallow, if the big flying triangle doesn’t make it, maybe their funds shortage will be shorted.

Do you know it will be D-FJAK?
Yes – otherwise I would not have posted. 🙂

Mark V
Do you know it will be D-FJAK? there was a Yak 3 at London City fun day this year which was not D-FJAK it was a two seater and D-FJAK is a single seater.
