Jersey International Air Show 2009

The build up to this years JIAS has been slow, it appears that several key participants pulled out quite late, the Chinook being the most notable apparently due to the recent losses. The weather is not looking too good for tomorrow with high westerly winds forecast to build up over night, which meant the BBMF DC3 and Spitfire will be operating out of Southampton for the show.

Yesterday saw the arrival of a Grob and Red Arrows.

Arriving today were :-
Flamant;
Broussard;
P51 Old Crow;
A26;
King Air;
Hawk T1;
AN2;
B17 Pink Lady;
SAAB Tunnan;
SAAB 105;
Belgian S61;
Puma;
2 x Guinot Stearman;
Cartouche Dore; and
the Dukes B25.

We also experienced a flyby by a Belgian F16 which is over-nighting in France due to the length of the runway in Jersey.

Its so good to see some of those rarer and more unusual aircraft participating in an air show. ‘Stuff’ you just dont see at those few remaining UK Air Shows … but thats another story!

See you there next year!

Ian, As you say, nothing exceptional.:p

… but seriously some really good shots there. Perhaps for net year you should build a coracle and get the current MrsEN830 to row you around the bay to get a few different angles.

Have you seen the way she drives, we’d end up somewhere peculiar like Guernsey !!!

I wasn’t impressed with my efforts, however several magazines have shown an interest as far away as Australia. Also the UK and Germany. A couple of forumites from here have also helped with contacts in Sweden.

The sun did shine, but it was very blustery which made photography quite challenging on our usual outcrop in the Bay of St Aubin. The display line is also a fair distance from anywhere so Shuttleworth up close shots were not really possible.

Anyhow here is a very small selection of images from today, nothing exceptional.

That Invader shot is an absolute belter, Ian.

The others aren’t so dusty, either.

Thanks for the comments Tony , I was beginning to think no one was interested in shots from somewhere different to Duxford, Fairford, Waddington or Old Warden

I like the first shot of the Arrows. A different angle, nice.

Actually, the last one is pretty good too.
