According to Jethros and other sources Jet2 have aquired another 3 757’s from china!
They are now up to G-LSAI….. Wonder what they have planned for these 3??

So LBA could have 3 or 4 based 757’s ? I wonder if they will dispose of earlier 733’s ?
I doubt it. Some of the older 737s are QC aircraft and work cargo and mail runs at night which is a nice little side earner for jet2. Plus the 737s are all kept busy. I do belive that a jet2 737 is stateside at the moment getting some sort of refit.

Should Jet2 decide to purchase new aircraft in the future the 737-700 and 737-800 are good options to look at. I doubt Jet2 would order Airbus for obvious reasons (although anything is possible!)

I can’t imagine how many cycles 757’s have had operating in China 😀 Good news for Jet2 though, although I think it would be a good idea to order some brand new aircraft. A319 and A321 sounds good.
Problem with getting brand new aircraft is there expensive better to go for second hand.

I know they’ve not had any bad delays, as FlyMonarch has already told me but to keep up with Ryanair and EasyJet and other low-co’s they need brand new planes. There’s no point getting these 757’s from China because they do like 1hr-2hr flights most of the time and seem to be in the air more than BA’s 75s! 😀

In terms of the “low cost model” how are Jet 2 operating the 757s alongside the 737’s?
Theres no crew commonality, but yet all Boeing type rated but different maintenance? Are the 75’s employed on certain routes?

I was in Tenerife last week and Jet 2 have entered in to partnership with the Tenerife government to promote services from the island to other European cities. Jet 2 will have one 757 based at TFS.
Indeed, they are already basing one at TFS this winter.
