Jet Age recovery Group South west

Hi all ,
sorry to trouble you again, but ive been mulling this one over for some time.

as you know/or dont know, ive been involved with Aviation archaeology for over 20 years, hence to say i have noticed most WW2 crash sites have been OVER investigated, and there is very little left after 40+ years of recoverys from the 1960s to today, However, my personal interest has been the past few years in the Jet age and Post war Losses ,
inkeeping with plans for RAF WZ , canberras etc ,I feel the “NEW” age of recovery is the Jet age,
there is growing interest in the early jet age, like myself, and i have found quite a few worthy of full excavation, the list is endless because the Main recovery groups have had very little interest in the early Jet aircraft sites,
I believe this was a golden era of flight, and wondered if any of you in the south west would be keen to be involved in a “Jet Age Recovery Group”
i will carry on researching regardless, allways have allays will, but if there others out there like me who wish to partake in these activities, researching recovering etc,m historical jet age sites , i would be pleased to hear from them,
Have a think about it , ??

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately there are very few sites that are anywhere me, most of the WW2 stuff is in the north and very inaccessible if not already gone. As for post war, Australia has a very small airforce and there are not that many crash sites – you have a much higher concentration in the UK.

Fully Agree Paul,
this is why i want to start i now, and it is just as fascinating as ww2,
especailly how fast the advancement of aircraft was in those 30 years,
britains golden age of aircraft design i would say,
I am thinking of starting a website too with all those interested,
on another note, i bet you got loads in Australia where you are,
if theres anything ww2 i would like to find its bits ffrom a jap plane crash
but other than that you got all those meteor F.8 in Aus, i bet your country is rife with interesting sites
thanks for the good luck wishes,
kinnd regards

Good luck with your recovery group merkle. I have to agree the jet crashes of the 50’s and 60’s will be ‘the new black’ when all possible WW2 aircraft have been recovered as peoples enthusiasm will not die just be channelled into something more obtainable. And after this period the number of crashes dwindles sharply – for instance how many crashes are there from the 90’s and 00’s that are worthy of a dig?
