They’ve ceased operations. They don’t know how the passengers will get back from Spain although they will be covered for compensation according to the article. See the following link

I’m not particularly surprised at this news. None of these so called “low fare carriers with a difference” seem successful. Unfortunately it seems if you want to offer low fares, you have to be like Easyjet, Ryanair or Southwest.

Aer Lingus are doing better than ever and I dont think oneworld has very much to do with it so I dont think it would have a massive effect if Aer Lingus left ok it might have some effect with less connections etc but all airlines have to be individual and do what is best for them not what is best for the allaince.

Whilst I’m not sure OneWorld are happy with this,
When is Oneworld ever happy with something? 😉

Well 3 sort of, Flyjetgreen was another incarnation of FreshAer, remember that fiasco?
From what I hear Aer Lingus are doing VERY well indeed, with high load factors and good margins coming from their recent revolution to no frills.
Whilst I’m not sure OneWorld are happy with this, at least there is an established airline making some money.

So that’s two lo-co Irish start up’s gone pear shaped, are Aer Lingus and Ryanair making it difficult for them or what ?
Or is it just bad accountancy ?

It sounds like a record for an airline that actualy started flying services though…?

Many Start ups never get anywhere near an aircraft.
By: greekdude1 - 13th May 2004 at 01:38
is this some kind of record for the amount of time an airline has lasted?
Not at all. There have been airlines that never operated a single flight, yet had at least one aircraft painted up in a full livery.

What did I say about their shabby colour scheme?
Keep it nice and simple and it’s easy to remove for the next owner of the aircraft!

I hate to say but I told lots of people it would happen and they went and booked anyway.

Is this becoming a trend of starting new airlines and then going bust. Its becoming like opening a shop.
By: LBARULES - 12th May 2004 at 15:30
That is a real shame, is this some kind of record for the amount of time an airline has lasted? They never really had a chance up against EI and FR at DUB did they… Especially with the strict dress code in the premium cabin…

It lasted a whole week and 2 days. Wow!
