I am currently researching the history of Jet Provost T.52 G-PROV, and am looking for additional information and photographs.
I have heard conflicting reports that it was painted in a dark gloss blue colour scheme after the Hunter One Collection at Bournemouth restored it in 1985.
Other information suggests that it went straight into the familiar red scheme, whereas the other T.52 restored at Hurn, G-JETP was painted gloss blue!
Can anyone help solve the riddle?
Any photos would be great too 🙂
Many thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi guys,
I am one of the part owners of G-PROV. Look at our website:
If anyone has any other photos of the aircraft in SAAF service or Singapore Air Force service or even RAF service would love to see them.
If anyone wants to come check out the aircraft drop me a line.

You are already using my photo of G-PROV in South Arabian Air Force colours on your website! I have never seen any photos of ANY T.52 in Singapore AF colours, only Strikemasters.

Yep that’s it! Based at North Weald, but never seems to go to an aviation events, so quite elusive.

Thanks Albert!
I don’t suppose you know when it took its first flight?
Again I have conflicting reports, 1984 or 1985.

Albert to the rescue again! G-PROV was originally XS228 in RAF service, then was sold to the South Arabian Air Force as ‘104’ in 1967. Mike Carlton bought it for his collection and it was painted all-red in 1984. To prove it, here it is in primer, with parts painted red taken at Hurn in August 1984. I don’t believe it was ever painted blue and now flies in a pseudo ‘raspberry ripple’ scheme.
