” Here at Jet2.com we are proud to announce that engaging in the century’s old tradition of tossing the ‘caper’ has never been easier for our loyal Scottish customers thanks to our latest route announcements today.
Residents from Edinburgh and beyond can now have an even bigger ‘pizza d’ actionβ when our new route to Milan launches in April next year. Our flights to this capital of style and football are so cheap (Β£24.99 Scottish pounds or Β£25 English!) and accessible that season tickets for the San Siro Stadium are set to become the Scottish ‘must-haves’ of the year – forget Hibs, Hearts, Rangers and Celtic, the smart money’s on Inter or AC this year.
What’s more, our flight increases from Edinburgh to Pisa are so good value you might just ‘Pisa’ yourself laughing when you book. Tuscany is a stunning destination and with one way fares costing from as little as Β£29.99 there’ll be no excuse not to grab a spoon and dish yourself up one giant slab of ‘La dolce vita’ cake.”
Great news for EDI.

Here we are from 15 February, 2004. So maybe tommyinyork is correct. π Maybe you lot just haven’t flow one of the aircraft without window blinds. π
Although I don’t know if things have changed again since then. I’ve never flown Ryanair so I don’t know.
AFAIK They went ahead with this but actually opted to keep the window blinds – although the other things such as reclining seats went.

Good news for EDI though. Is it Linate, Bergamo or Malpensa they’re flying to?
They’re flying to Bergamo.
By: Craigston_Tom - 8th August 2006 at 14:32
I remember reading a news report on the BBC site that Ryanair were getting rid of window blinds and reclining chairs to further cut down on costs. The article isn’t recent though. I’ll try and dig it out.
Yes I read a news articles on this also. Apparently Ryanair fix 40 reclining seats per aircraft per year. Replacing the seats with none reclining ones, would apparently save them Β£130,000 per year per aircraft.

All Ryanair Aircraft have window blinds, tray tables etc etc
By: David2386 - 8th August 2006 at 14:08
Ryanair stopped having seatback pockets to speed up turnaround times when cleaning, or to cut costs which of course saved them millions and millions of pounds  Why would they get rid of the tray table, it’d only make it more difficult to scratch your scratch cards. π

From experience, Ryanair was quite tacky with bad seats etc, but never tried Jet2. Will be doing so in a few weeks, hopefully it’s not too bad!
Jet2 seem like a fun-loving type of airline with these press releases, Jo Whiley aircraft etc.
Good news for EDI though. Is it Linate, Bergamo or Malpensa they’re flying to?

I have got my facts right and believe me people say Ryanair aircraft don’t have window blinds and meal trays. Some Ryanair craft do but only older 737-800s.
Do you step into a taxi on the street and huff about the furnishings in there? Cause that is essentially what Ryanair (and other lo-co’s) are – glorified taxis. As many have joked, some may think that O’Leary has contemplated an ‘all standing’ configuration.
Lo-co’s create a balance between service (including furnishings) and fare price. All Ryanair have done is concentrated more on low fare price, in turn reducing service. If you don’t like them, don’t fly them. (that wasn’t directed personally to you tommy, just those who think they are rubbish because they don’t have seat pockets).

By: lukeylad - 8th August 2006 at 14:00
I must say i sooner rather be on a JET2 flight than a Ryanair flight.
I mean Ryanair to me sound terrible, no meal trays, window blinds, seat pockets etc
OK This has just made me laugh!! have you ever flown ryan air or ever payed attention to a trip report done By LBARULES for example??
By: LBARULES - 8th August 2006 at 13:53
Tom flew on one a few weeks ago, I think he knows more than you about what they are like inside.
Read, take the information in and you’ll stop coming out with rubbish. Simple as.

I’ve only flown on EI-DAI, EI-DAY (x2), EI-DCP, EI-DCS, EI-DHE (x2), EI-DLF and EI-DLL this year so how can I possibly be more qualified to answer the question than Tommy

I think Jet2 are pretty tacky (branding wise). And any airline who names an aircraft “Jo Whiley” is really taking the p!ss.

Its called publicity, not taking the p**s.

This is really annoying me now, ALL Ryanair aircraft have window blinds and meal trays!
I have flown on 7 different 737-800s (from old to new) and that always been the case.
Please fly on the airline and see for yourself before you go and dispute what people say!

Well infact THEY do have meal trays, THEY do have window blinds, the only thing is missing is the seat pocket.
Once again, get your facts right.
