Jet2.com The ‘on-time airline’
Airlines across the UK are currently rushing out to buy new batteries for their watches following the latest report into on-time performance.
Jet2.com have recently been announced ‘THE MOST ON-TIME AIRLINE FOR 2006’ beating all other low cost airlines to win this customer focused award.
Phillip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com said;
‘This yet again proves the Jet2.com commitment to offering passengers what they want. Our unrivalled on time performance coupled with the lowest fares and award winning customer service make Jet2.com truly the number one low cost airline’.
Excellent photo of a ‘cryanair’ aircraft on the Jet2 news page.

Paul, I think I should be throwing that comment back at you.
Hmm.. You see, a comment like “lighten up” isn’t an acknowledgement of someone’s opinion. It’s an attempt to change someone’s opinion. If you do wish to enter a discussion on words, I suggest you choose yours more carefully. Until you do so, and until you fully comprehend the words you’re actually using, may I respectfully suggest you keep your fingers away from the keyboard.
My point is made.

I must admit I do find the Jet2.com caption funny and admire them for having the proverbial spherical objects to do it.
But I can’t help but wonder just how wise taking a pop at Ryanair really is. I would have thought Jet2 – an airline which I genuinely do admire – would be better spending their time and money on other things.
Regards
John

I’ll leave it at that before this also develops into “childish” debate.

I agree with Paul also. To do something like this will just launch a PR war from Ryanair and I would have thought that was not a great thing as will just take up time and money.
Also Ryanair could probably quite eaisly come into LBA on Jet2s routes and start a “turf war” if provoked enough. I am confident their pricing could be cheaper than Jet2s….

Ah, thats where it went. G-IFIT has been up in the LBA hangers since about september. I got told it was Jet2 crew movements?

Jet2 humour continued…
It may well be a bit childish to stoop as low as the likes of Ryanair, however, there is nothing wrong with playing others at their own game now is it?!
To continue the humour side of this thread, I have just found this rather funny image; it looks like Jet2.com is planning to enter into the local market…:D:p

Like Paul says, Manston Airport, it’s all about having your own opinion. And for one, I totally agree with Paul.
And, Manston, It’s OF!

I dont think its childish at all , I found it brilliant that there is an airline that is not taking the Cr*p from Ryanair like BYE BYE EASYJET or BYE BYE SKY EUROPE, I find that childish and O’Leary childish.
Now I think they say some crap about jet2 now on one off there planes.

I never said or even implied it didn’t work as advertising, I said I was disappointed they’d lower themselves to employing the same childish tactics as Mr O’Leary, and it is extremely childish. It’s the kind of petty behaviour you expect to see or hear in the playground. Of course it gets the airline attention, but I’m fairly sure I’m not alone in thinking there must be better ways of advertising than bringing your company down to this. I don’t think it does anything positive whatsoever for JET2’s image. Quite the reverse in fact, in my opinion of course.

Lighten up. I don’t think it’s that bad. It wasn’t in good taste I agree, but I certainly don’t think it’s childish, but more likely a good business move. During the french strikes and the invasion of the runway at one of the french airports, Mr Meeson used a picture of frogs with a slogan such as “get back to work you lazy frogs”. Immediately, he gained free publicity including several minutes on national television and in all the main newspapers and radio stations. Believe me this was certainly not a silly move. At the time of that press release, Jet2 was largely unheard of in the South and all of a sudden, this little concern was being noticed. Likewise, it is proven that Mr O’Leary’s little games are equally as effective. One example of this is when MI5 undercovered a plot to blow up aircraft using liquids. Mr O’Leary went against broad opinion with a major attack on MI5 and the Government. Again Mr O’Leary gained free publicity and in turn extra bums on seats.

The fact that people are looking at the press release is evidence that it has achieved its object.

I agree absolutely 1000%. I’m a little disappointed to see this from JET2, I always thought they had more class than to stoop to Ryanair’s level of slagging off the competition. It’s actually sad to see very serious companies acting in a way that would be typical of schoolkids, and it does nothing whatsoever to make me fly with them (even though I still do, but it has nothing to do with advertising).
Very sad indeed!
Paul
With all due respect, this is a fantastic move by Jet2.

Incredibly tacky by Jet2, but oh well!
