and the routes are!!!!
Amsterdam
Barcelona
Malaga
Milan – Bergamo
Nice
Palma
All look good for me apart from the AMS run – a bit of competition on there and that could be the first stumbling block – I would have preferred a german run instead – but we could get germanwings to do them – oh am i dreaming again!!!
The palma has failed as a sched before with FUA on a thurs, but numbers keep climbing on the charters and with it been Low cost we’ll have to see!!!

Would Jet2 ever try a LBA-SNN route or would RYR just launch the exact same route in spite of them? I think there might be demand for a 3xweekly flight. Any opinions?

No tech issue downroute, just a weather diversion to Genoa that lead to a nightstop.

Jet2 appear to be having tech problems today with a 737.
The flight from Newcastle to Pisa arrived 3 hours late and departure to the UK is now showing as 10am tomorrow morning instead of earlier this afternoon!!

Ah right thanks for the info!!!!
So we have 2 routes from Glasgow, surely that then leaves space for a north of England slot? We shall see!

GSM GLA-ATH was always going to be a seasonal route.
GRE have been operating GLA-ATH all year round for a few years now. The reason Air Scotland flights from Glasgow to Athens is only on sale till March is because they do not have their Summer 2007 flights on sale, not many airlines do at the moment.

OK well lets put it another way the only availability on GSM website is until October so doesn’t appear to be an all year round route for them!
Air Scotland/Greece Airways/Top Air Jet, I checked on there website to book for next March also and they have no flights showing!
Dunno maybe someone can help out??

GSM are not dropping Glasgow to Athens, they are yet to launch there full Summer 2007 program yet, so Glasgow to Athens along with a load of other routes that are operating at the moment are still to go on sale for Summer 2007.
Also FlyGlobespan are not the only airline operating this route, Air Scotland/Greece Airways/Top Air Jet operate Glasgow to Athens all year round.

As far as I am aware they are the Greek national airline!
I have also just noticed that GSM have dropped there flight to Athens for next summer so there is now not a direct flight to Athens from the North…..

Olympic Airlines are useless considering they are the countries main airline.
How? why?
Are they really the countries main airline these days?

Yeah I agree easyjet do it from both Luton and Gatwick. Also it is true that olympic do it from manchester but usless flight times and rip off fares!
I just thought it maybe one for Jet2 or similar to jump on and also one that I personally would use!

Why dont they try routes such as Rhodes, Heraklion, Kos and Zante ?
Most of these are seasonal routes (i.e. summer only) and are already very, very well covered by the charter airlines during such periods.

Didnt Hellas Jet fly from Manchester to Athens before they were closed down? I’m sure they did well on the route (the other alternative being Olympic at some silly time of the night). Would be nice to see them try it, however the bucket and spade market seems to be suiting Jet2 the most, and the Ski Market over winter. It would be a good idea if they did start it though

Ouch thats allot of flying time. At Least they are with a company that gets lots of use out of them . Is there a website where i could get that kind of information from mate??
G-INFO database on the CAA website.

Just because the aircraft is “older” doesn’t mean its automatically going to have tech problems. Jet2 happen to have a high dispatch rate on their B737s despite their age. bmibaby on the other hand don’t seem to and their B737s are 10 years newer than Jet2s!

The only route Greece Airways have ever operated to Athens was Glasgow to Athens, they still operate this as do FlyGlobespan.

Built 1986, and around 45,000 flying hours.
While on the subject, G-LASD built in 1989 has over 63,000 hours.
