Jet2 Start Cork and Bournemouth… From Belfast!

JET2.COM ANNOUNCES BELFAST ROUTE
Bournemouth-based Dart Group plc today announced that its low cost airline subsidiary, Jet2.com, would start a daily service from Bournemouth to Belfast next March with fares starting from £16 including taxes.

The airline will start services to Belfast International Airport on 23rd March 2005, just in time for the Easter break. Demand for the lowest fares is expected to be high and seats go on sale at 5pm today.

Jet2.com boss Philip Meeson said: “Belfast is fast becoming one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe and, for many, is the ‘new’ Dublin. Its compact city centre has been revitalised by modern developments, warehouse refurbishments and a raft of trendy new bars, cafes, restaurants and clubs.

“Its popularity among stag and hen parties is boosted with the likes of the Belfast Music Festival, its four-day St Patrick’s Day celebrations, the Summer Fest, the fringe Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and the three week Belfast Festival at Queen’s which, after Edinburgh’s, is the second-largest arts festival in the UK.

“What’s more, the city is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful surrounding villages and countryside of Northern Ireland. If you add the demand this is sure to cretae from south coast travellers to the vast numbers we will bring into Bournemouth and the surrounding region, then we’re sure to have a hugely popular service on our hands,” he concluded.

Daily timetable:

Depart Belfast 10.30 hrs
Arrive Bournemouth 11.45 hrs

Depart Bournemouth 12.15 hrs
Arrive Belfast 13.30 hrs

For fares, timetables and bookings log onto http://www.jet2.com or call 0871 226 1737

Yet more new routes, this one really out of the blue! Doubt we will see BOH from LBA with all the Southcoast flights just announced, but maybe could see ORK from MAN and LBA?

Timetable for BFS-ORK-BFS:

Departs BFS 07:00 arriving ORK 08:00
Departs ORK 08:30 arrving BFS 09:30

Flights are daily.

Cork had a rough year last year and the whole Jetmagic saga seemed to have stirred many operators into operating through there. For the moment LBA and MAN both have services there in the form of bmi and bmibaby. LBA in particular may at present have problems sustaining the 2 operators daily.

If we work on connecting the existing dots on the map I can see LBA-BUD/VLC/PSA/LGW working, or a MAN-BOH or BCN (comp on the BCN route tho).

Very interesting indeed.I think Aer Arrann are reporting only OK loads from ORK to BHD and thats with a ATR so it will be interesting to see how Jet2 get on with a 737.
Cork is really expanding rapidly and they have a brand new terminal opening next year.
Go Cork!!!!

Yeah but Jet2 didnt fly these routes, and BHD-ORK is not BFS-ORK, so they are new for them 🙂

These routes are not really “new” because Buzz were (or did) operate BOH-BFS and Aer Arann already fly ORK-BHD. Still think these will be popular.

ORK- to the north-west might not happen because of Ryanair, bmibaby and BA.
