Just got the new Airliner world.
UK BUDGET opertor Jet2 will introduce its first Boeing 767 into its fleet within the next year, alongside additional B757-200s. The planned expansion was revealed by its parent company Dart Group in a statement confirming its full-year results. As part of a major growth in Jet2’s longer distance services and winter sun routes, it will add to its current five-strong B757s but also “operate similar, larger types”. It is likely these will be used to introduce new long-haul flights from the UK to North America.
Interesting stuff, eh?

Most likely situation is them probably getting GSM’s 767-300s.
Very unlikely why would GSM sell perfectly good aircraft to there competition when they have a clear need for them on there own operations. They need to get there own 767s back from lease to replace them bad 757s they had.

What about late built DC10’s such as ones built in late 80’s.
They are either scrap by now or flying for FEDEX and UPS, ATA, OMNI.

That wouldn’t make any sense if Jet2 got any DC-10’s. Whereas if they got B767’s there is flightdeck commonality with the B757’s that they already operate. Then again, its only rumours that there purchasing
B767’s.

Er… did the 767 have a predecessor ? The Tristar or DC-10 maybe ? As for going for 787’s in twenty years, I wonder if the line will still be open then ?
Er…successor:) bit off topic but i do think the line could last till then, i think generic 767 lasted for over 20yrs??
By: Ren Frew - 21st August 2007 at 22:34
whats to stop them say in 5-10-15-20 years going in for the 767s predecessor, Boeings 787. My bad if its not put that way:)

If you read what i said, you will understand that im trying to make the point that if Jet2 are looking at a 767 sized aircraft then whats to stop them say in 5-10-15-20 years going in for the 767s predecessor, Boeings 787. My bad if its not put that way:)
I understood your point, but… 5-10-15-20 years?!
Now may be the time just to accept that we’re not going to agree on this and leave it at that! 🙂

So PMN we aint specualting about wether they are going to get them we are speculating what routes they are going to be put on
You clearly didn’t actually read my previous comments! I stated I had very good reason to believe the rumour LS are getting 767’s wasn’t entirely mythical. When talking about ridiculous speculation I was referring to people making comments regarding MD-11’s and 787’s!
If you are going to try pull me up on something, at least pay attention to what I’ve written! 🙂

Well they you have it. Gulf Air Retired there 767-300 Jet 2 Looking Intrested. So PMN we aint specualting about wether they are going to get them we are speculating what routes they are going to be put on
Well no you don’t have it, the keyword in that comment being ‘rumour’. The guy who took the photo is probably an enthusiast like the ones in this thread proclaiming Jet2 will get this, that and the other .

The TOG has most likely heard this rumour and just added it to his photo doesn’t really mean anything.
I wont belive it until i see one at Southend or Lasham in full Jet2 colours.
Routes wise i think they will get used on there exisiting holiday routes to start with TFS for example then slowly branch out into further afield. Let us not forget Jet2 are still pretty new at Passenger services so it would be wise for them not to jump into long haul the second they have Long Haul A/C.
Any Word on there 757s ETOPS rating. I belive G-LSAC is there only ETOPS rated aircraft at present.

Most of the worlds MD-11’s are either hauling cargo flying for airlines and destined to be hauling cargo.
Makes no sense see as Jet2s 757 drivers are apparently on conversion courses to the 767.

What would be harm with JET2 trying the MD11 I believe there is plenty on market.
And what evidence do you have to support the above comment! Do you work for JET2? Do you know something that the rest of us don’t?
This thread was initiated based on speculation of JET2 obtaining 767’s!!! So why are individuals continuing to speculate on whether JET2 are going to obtain B787’s (oh please), A330’s & MD11’s!
I’m surprised no one has suggested JET2 purchasing or leasing the A380

That mean’s then they will have to train the Cabin Crew/Flight Crew for 3 Different types of A/C which will be both expensive and they will have to have different crew for different A/C.
Not a big issue really. Cabin crew can legally be qualified on three a/c types concurrently – or at least they could when I was very involved with crewing at BM a few years back (where we had individual cabin crew qual’d on 737, Fk100 and A320, or DC9, ATP, Fk100 for example).

There is absolutely no harm in speculating PMN, you talk like you own the bleeding airline! Oh and you spelled speculating and commercial wrong!
I believe that’s called a ‘typo’, or ‘typographical error’. I am, after all, only Human and thus do occasionally make mistakes.
If I may, however, I’d like to respectfully draw your attention to two magical keys on your keyboard. The first is called a ‘comma’, and resides on the same key as the ‘<‘ symbol. The second is obtained by using the special ‘shift’ key (of which there are two), and is located on the same key as the number 2. The symbol you get here is called a ‘quotation mark’.
Use them wisely, good Sir, for they will empower you with the fabulous ability to punctuate your sentences correctly.
