Are Jet2 doing anything special to celebrate the first flight?

What’ the point of Jet2 painting LSAB in Menorca colours, when they are not going to operate it on this route? Doesn’t make a great deal of commercial sense to me!!!

Its not supposed to make commercial sense, but it actualy does. Why would you advertise a destination on the side of a plane taking passengers to that destination? They already know you fly there, because they are going there now! It would make commercial sense to advertise a different destination to make people more aware of your wider route network. 😉

It’s not in “Menorca colours”, it’s in Jet2 livery and named ‘Jet2 Menorca’
It’s called ‘Advertising’

Indeed. FlyBe services from LBA have looked to be successes so far, with BHD remaining 3x daily despite the Jet2 BFS service, SOU been upgraded to twice daily, and EXT remaining at once daily. There have been lots of rumours about FlyBe expansion from LBA, as there have been from alot of other airports but we have been one of the only regional airports to get a French destination from them which looks good.

As someone on the LBA group pointed out, Jet2 have a fantastic number of flights from LBA now that summer is in full swing, just look at the destinations served today, we could have only dreamed of this a few years ago!

LS201 AMSTERDAM
LS323 BELFASTINTERNATIONAL
LS391 MILAN BERGAMO
LS197 IBIZA
LS343 VENICE
LS271 ALICANTE
LS185 MALAGA
LS331 ROME – FIUMICINO
LS195 PRAHA/RUZYNE
LS315 PARIS (CHARLES-DE-GAULLE)
LS227 PALMA
LS241 NICE
LS265 MALAGA
LS231 BARCELONA
LS223 TENERIFE
LS251 FARO
LS257 PALMA
LS207 MURCIA
LS205 AMSTERDAM
LS347 DUSSELDORF
LS375 MAHON
LS273 ALICANTE

We take Jet2 for granted now, but they really have transformed LBA!

This is true enough. How much more expansion can LBA cope with?

Innsbruck by Austrian Arrows along with the Verona flight by Astraeus started last week Tom.

Looks like a normal summer saturday again. After a slow start.

Not forgetting that the LBA-EXT has been upgraded to a 146 from a Q400 this season, despite staying once daily. 🙂

90% load factor on the first flight is to be expected. Lets just hope that the following flights prove equally as popular and FlyBe decide to extend Leeds into some of their additional French destinations.

Was just wondering where the aircraft was operating from, and I see it is doing a W pattern EXT-EGC-LBA-EGC-EXT.

Yep, will be a 737 as Mark says. G-LSAB is currently based at MAN.

Another route starts tomorrow from LBA, here’s the press release from lbia.co.uk.

Flybe, one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines, will tomorrow see the start of its new route to Bergerac in the heart of the Dordogne from Leeds Bradford Airport. Flights operate on a weekly basis, and have already proved extremely popular with 90% of seats booked for the inaugural flight.

Bergerac is a perfect getaway destination, with bustling markets and narrow cobbled 13th century streets. The city is popular with wine aficionados and is famous for some of France’s best-loved red wines, including the popular Monbazillac. The region is a long-standing favourite with both British holiday-makers and second homes buyers, and the new low cost route provides an ease of access for both.

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer at Flybe comments: “We’re really pleased with the take-up of the new route. A 90% load factor is an excellent result for a new destination and shows how Flybe is providing customers with a convenient and popular service.”

“The new Bergerac service is our fourth destination from Leeds Bradford Airport. Impressive seat sales on all routes prove that customers are looking for convenient low-cost services from their local airport, thus making travel as easy and stress-free as possible.”

Flights from Leeds to Bergerac, Exeter, Southampton and Belfast City for summer 2006 are available for booking from today at www.flybe.com

Nah its being done by a 737. I assume there will be the usual PR stuff at the check in desks and on the first flight as usually happens on new routes.
