Jet2 Voted Best UK Short Haul Airline!

Best of British – Jet2.com Receives Top National Consumer Award
12 May 2004

Fast-expanding low cost airline, Jet2.com, which operates out of Leeds Bradford and Belfast International airports, has received a major independent customer satisfaction award beating 27 other major airlines to be the number one UK-based ‘Best Short-Haul Airline’.

At an awards ceremony in Rhodes yesterday, Mariella Frostrup announced that Jet2.com was second overall, behind Nordic-based airline Finnair, in the category which covers all charter, no-frills and scheduled short-haul airlines.

More than 22,000 travel consumers took part in the annual Travel Awards survey held by the Guardian, the Observer and Guardian Unlimited online users – only Finnair and Jet2.com were singled out for achieving such high satisfaction scores in a demanding field.

Jet2.com was the number one ranked UK-based low cost airline ahead of BMI Baby (10th), Flybe (17th), easyJet (18th) and Ryanair (24th) – it was also placed ahead of all other UK airlines including national flag carrier British Airways (8th).

Philip Meeson, Jet2.com boss, said: “Already, this has been a fantastic year for us so far – absolutely fantastic.

“In February we were awarded the title of the world’s most punctual airline flying into Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, in March we surpassed the half-a-million passenger mark and in April we added three new routes: Leeds to Venice and Murcia and Belfast to Prague.

“However, this latest accolade is a real achievement for everyone associated with Jet2.com both in Yorkshire and in Northern Ireland as not only was it voted for by the public who fly with us it reflects the fantastic job our staff do for us.

“Perhaps unlike some airlines, for us low cost doesn’t mean no-frills, and it certainly doesn’t mean we neglect things like customer service and punctuality.

“These operating principals have been given a huge public endorsement and all of us at the airline are absolutely delighted with this award.”

This is absolutely no surprise to me, I have had 4 fabulous flights with Jet2 in the last few months, and I know EGNM has as well. Great work Jet2!

I definitely didn’t say this LBA; I for one am all for sticking up for them.

Hopefully I’ll fly with them one day. 🙂

The thing about them having plenty of a/c on the ground is rubbish. 5 out of 6 are in the air each day as within hours there are departures to PMI,MJV,AGP,ALC and BCN. So they hardly ever have more than 1 a/c on the ground. They also have 5 departures early in the morning, AGP,BFS,AMS,PRG and NCE. I’m not saying you said this just sticking up for them!
You would love Jet2 even more if you flew them 🙂

This is fantastic news!

I love Jet 2 and I’ve never flown them!

Why do I love them? Because they’re local, they give the appearance of being small and friendly, unlike the giants of baby, Easyjet and Ryanair.

I cannot remember one lengthy delay with them.

I cannot remember seeing one bad report about them.

Add to this they are making money so they’re obviously doing something right.

For me they’re the ultimate example of a low-cost carrier. I just hope the fairy tale continues and they don’t get too big! 🙂

I’ve heard comments such as “well of course they won’t have delays, they have plenty of aircraft lying around”. I would counter this comment with the fact that they’re making money; if they can make money with spare capacity, then maybe this is something some of the bigger players could learn from. 🙂

someone didn’t do their research very well… Swissair went bust 2 years ago… and how come JMC/Thomas Cook is in the top ten twice?
