She’s rumoured to be doing LGW hops during the week and AMS runs at the weekends for now.

Beauty! I’m on LS949 17:15 MAN-AMS on Saturday 8th April. Here’s hoping! 🙂

I can see that the 146 might be quite well suited to jet2. Am definatly going to try and get on it! Anybody know what the interior is like?

Yeah it has all just been re-fitted just for us, No leather seats though all navy 6 a brest and holds 110 seats, the seats have our headrests on them, not sure about the bins with the Jet2………. stickers dont think it has, new carpet been layed for us and its looks great i was told by our base co-ordinator!!!

I think it would be great news for LBA, it would open up so many more connections like lots of charter flights, Caribbean, USA, Canada, Africa, India etc wich could be slightly out the the picture for a few years from LBA.

I’d love to see LBA get a Gatwick connection 🙂 A shame they don’t try it though

Would of liked the 146 to have a red tail and i think the titles on the engines are a bit daft.

If Jet2 are struggling at MAN, then how is bmibaby still there? I mean, of all the locos that are based at MAN you’ve got to assume that baby would be the first to fail.

Why would Baby be the 1st to fail? bmi Baby might be doing great on some routes that Monarch and/or Jet2 aren’t. Not saying that is the case, but could be.

They (Jet2.com) have gone to last resorts getting this aircraft to make the Manchester base work. It’s a well know fact its struggling at MAN. Compared operations else where in the north.

Just look at all the expansion from its new base up the road at Blackpool and other the hill at its original base at Leeds.

Jet2 don’t want to be seen dropping routes from Manchester. It’ll make them look bad. So they have got an aircraft in to operate the flights instead of operating it with there own B737-300’s

End of the day them Gatwick flights would have been better been operated from its LBA base.

By the way i have been told some LBA-Dussledorf flights have been upgraded to Boeing B757-200 instead of the smaller B737-300’s

I think some of that is very debateable. The BAE 146 still has a fair old number of seats, not like it’s tiny or anything. The only way we’ll ever know if the LGW route would have been better at LBA is if they operated it. If Jet2 weren’t making money at MAN, they would pull out, period.

If (and it’s a big if), Jet2 were struggling compared to other bases, it may be because of increased competition, it’s not like they have huge competition from the likes of LBA and BLK is it? As I say, they must be making money otherwise they would pull out. As Matt says, Jet2 are expanding this summer, and bringing in one of the 757’s, can’t be that bad.

Are you sure you’ve been told that Jet2 will be using the 757 on some DUS flights, or are you just taking what someone said on Pprune (I.E – Have some flights been upgraded), and made it into that?

I personally can’t see that DUS would require a 757, if so it is great news, but I don’t know..

I think it looks pretty cool but I also think it would be better in silver.

Much chance of seeing it at LBA?

I hate the tail of it. The main fuselage is OK. I hope to get on it sometime this Summer 🙂

Hmm… I think it looks pretty rubbish to be honest, will be still looking to get on it this summer!

I think it’s just to cover scheduled maintenance on the 737’s isn’t it, like last year when they leased in TF-ELZ?

Why are Jet2 expanding into different aircraft types?

I guess BAe 146 on short haul routes 737 on Medium routes and 757 on the longer routes just a guess what they could do.

It looks very nice on the BAE 146 white or silver it looks brilliant.
