JetBlue Airways on Monday said it has received federal authority to go ahead with its plan to start service to the Dominican Republic.
The low-cost carrier was awaiting approval from the US Department of Transportation to launch service to Santiago and Santo Domingo from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport in June.
The new destinations will be the first international flights for the rapidly growing four-year-old airline, which already serves 23 destinations, including Puerto Rico.
All service is still pending approval from the Dominican Republic government, JetBlue said.
