A few minutes ago, 4-41pm, 4 Jetstreams turned over Spilsby, Lincolnshire at about 1500ft to head slightly S of West in the direction of Coningsby…….as they turned the 4th aircraft joined to complete a diamond formation………
When does the Jetstream finish its RAF service….??
I wonder if this was practise for a final flypast……….or was this the final flypast ????????………if so, perhaps I have posted this on the correct forum after all ………????

XX496/D will be preserved at Cosford.

i wonder how long it will be before people start missing the jetstream when they have all been scraped, at least one airframe has got to be worthy of preservation, are their any plans for one or two to be saved?:( 😎 🙁
Or will it be a case of saving one of the navy versions and re-painting it,

Not to mention those crappy civilian registrations on em. 🙁 Except for the roundels they hardly look like aircraft being used by the military!
Give me a Jetstream any time over one of these!

sad to see em go, one of the few things left from when I started spotting in the 70’s. The Be200’s are in a crap scheme too. Never understood whay the RAF have so few transports compared with the French hords of Nords,Xingus,TBM’s etc.

When the SHARs depart, the three Heron Flight Jetstreams will be the FAA fixed wing element at Yeovilton!

Yes, it was a practice for Friday, but the weather forecast may mean it won’t happen again. All airworthy Jetstreams leave Cranwell Monday 22nd for other pastures – Cosford, Shawbury and Culdrose for dates with the scrapman. We may have all thought ‘another bl**dy Jetstream’ when at the fence at Waddo but they’ll be missed in a small way. 🙁

The RN Jetstreams will be around for a few more years, with 2007 being forecasted as their retirement date.
This will probably only be the Jetstream T.2s from Culdrose, the T.3s at Yeovilton would probably stay in service for a while longer.

Neil,
Thanks for the info……it has been quite the normal to see formation Jetstream at higher altitude…… but with this being at lower level I suspected it could be a farewell flypast practise…..
Thanks,
Clive.

I believe that theres a ‘farewell’ flypast at Cranwell this Friday.. not sure if thats the actual finale for the Jetstreams or not…
