Jimmy Dean, a country music legend for his smash hit about a workingman hero, “Big Bad John,” and an entrepreneur known for his sausage brand, died on Sunday. He was 81.

One of the first 45’s I bought. I remember the shopkeeper saying that he didn’t know James Dean had made any records! 😀

He was more than just a “one hit wonder”, he charted on the pop charts a few times as well as his country hits.
He even hosted a TV music series for 3 years.
And, he played a rare rich good guy in the Bond film, Diamonds are Forever.
On top of all tha, to many, he’s still best known for sausage.
There is a lesson in that, somewhere…:D

That was one of those classic “one-offs”, which arer never forgotten even though the performers are. I know nothing more of Jimmy Dean so thanks for remembering him.
