The Walter Reed Army Medical Center has denied anti-war activist Joan Baez permission to perform at a concert for recovering patients at the hospital. She was invited by John Mellancamp to appear with him. Free speech?

They appeared on an Air Force Base, genius 😀
Guess who’s going to see Sabbath and Megadeth on the 19th…although the Sabs are using the touring name Heaven & Hell, since they’re on tour with Ronnie James Dio on vocals playing nothing but Dio Sabbath tunes, including some brand new material :diablo:
In another serious down turn for heavy metal. The export name for the SNIPER- Pod…. “Pantera” …. Has been removed. From now on, SNIPER Pods export or otherwise will be called SNIPER. :diablo:

That’s too bad, Heaven & Hell are getting outstanding reviews. But if you can’t make the show, they did record the show at Radio City Music Hall in New York a few weeks back. It’ll be out on DVD and CD in August, I think.

It depends on how familiar you are with the Black Sabbath back catalogue, I suppose.

That is a grey area to me I must admit, Neil Young would probably be the heaviest artist I would admit to.:D

…thougth I didnt knew she was still live and kicking…
Good to hear she means so much to you.:D
BTW: I doubt if any of the soldiers under 35 knows who she is…
By: Gollevainen - 3rd May 2007 at 17:30
yeah….pigs and dogs:p
But I think its a shame really. If I would be wounded in war and possiply invalided for life, Joan Baez migth just exactly be something that I would like to hear…

It’s not a free speech issue.
The Army isn’t saying she can’t say whatever she wants.
At the very worse they’re saying she can’t say it on Army property.
Keep in mind the hospital is an active duty Army base.
As a broad example, it’s the same as why something yelled in Hyde Park might get you a few laughs would probably get you tossed out of the House of Commons.
Laws that make it illegal to deny the holocaust or counties where the media content is controlled…those are examples of laws limiting free speech.
