Joe came to visit the Boultbee Flight Academy at Goodwood yesterday…Joe was Bob Doe’s engine fitter during the BoB. It seemed fitting that Joe should do an engine run on SM520…I’m pleased to say he hasn’t lost his touch. He gave it a bit of boost aswell, as evidenced by the ballast on the tail…
A great few days at Goodwood, lots of T6 and Spitfire flying. Hope the weather lasts!

I’m no engineer Bruce, but I’m thinking 2 guys on the tail may compress the oleo somewhat?
No definitely needs charging…

Superb images. Joe is quite a character it seems from the interviews i have seen him in. The unseen heroes from the Battle of Britain, as without the ongoing work of the ground crews in replenishing and repairing aircraft the pilots would never have been able to take to the skies.
