Does anyone know what happened to John Crewdson? I recall reading that he was killed filming a movie but have no particulars. What movie and date?
Thanks.

I believe John Crewdson was killed when the Alouette II he was flying crashed on a sandbank in the Wash, ISTR in 1983?? The Helicopter was G-AWAP, so maybe a trawl through the archives will give the date?

Wow..talk about “Cutting the grass”!!!
Pretty impressive low level flying to say the least, I know several 8th AF B-17 pilots who did this sort of thing when there mission duties were done. Against the rules to say the least when it comes to safety, nice still from the movie! Seems to me they destroyed one of two of the B-17’s in the film for some reason?
Maybe someone here can fill in the blanks !

Martin Caiden’s book “Everything but the Flak” about the ferry flight of the 3 ressurected B17s for the movie “The War Lover” is a classic.
Wasn’t Crewsdon an RAF pilot in the Far East during the war too?

Hmmm…………..saw Don Bullock flying Sally B in such a fashion on several occasions and it was impressive for all the wrong reasons.

War Lover B-17 pilot ???
Not sure what became of him, seems to me he was one of the pilots flyiing B-17’s in the film. THE WAR LOVER. Filmed in the Uk in the early 1960’s, which has some outstanding low level flying ! Not sure if he served in the RAF.

John Crewdson was the helicopter pilot on the film ‘4 D Special Agents’ made in 1981 his last recorded film work.
I tried with no success to trace Crewdson whilst researching an article on the film The War Lover.
A pilot of remarkable skill, his ability has long been under appreciated.
