Hi all,
I took a trip up to Jumbolair-Greystone Airport in Florida yesterday – Valentine’s Day – to get a glimpse of the impressive private community up there. Unfortunately, with only an 18-55mm lens, you might have to squint to see some of the finer details in the shots – including John Travolta’s home and his private 707.

I believe it is a shared runway, i’m sure it was this runway that someone got killed on a year or so ago after they drove their BMW M5 off the end at high speed.

Nice photos, what was the reg of the PA28 you were flying? The colour red on the wing looks familiar to me.
It was N746RA, which is in the same colours as N80FT. I have flown in N80FT many times though, but I suspect it was in a better condition back in 2002 – when only a couple of years old – compared to what it is now!
Wow how cool is that and the first ive seen it 🙂 so is the runway and surroundings all his or is it shared, noticing the other houses ??
It would have to be a shared runway..my understanding is all the residents own private aircraft
Steve is right. It is a private airfield and most, if not all, of the houses have a taxiways straight to the runway.
Very interesting thankyou for sharing these photos with us, just wondered how organised and equipped this private airfield is? Considering aircraft as big as a 707 operate from there.
Does it have night lighting, traffic tower, radar, ILS, or fire dept etc…
The airport is uncontrolled, the lighting is pilot-controlled (as is the case at the majority of uncontrolled airfields out here), there are no instrument approach procedures and, as for a fire department, I don’t think so.

The runway dimensions are 7550ft by 210ft (or 2300m by 64m).
Ha! Thanks, it was more a rhetorical question to be honest! It just looked kinda fat. 🙂
