Principal photography for this feature film will begin in the UK on 11 September.

Well, how about that. You wait years for a film about the Battle of Britain and you get three in the works at once. These two about 303 squadron and Ridley Scott’s! Not that I’m complaining you understand!

More seriously, I can confirm that the family are not best pleased they were not contacted or consulted. That would have been easy for anyone with a bit of nous

From my experience film production companies don’t ever employ people with any nous…….

It will be interesting to see if after some minor canopy work we see the Yakkicane camera ship back.

So i guess the plot will be an American wins the B o B single handed in a P51 Hurricane ,BUT i really hope to be proven wrong it would be nice to see the Hurricane take centre stage for once.

There was also quite a good recently produced 303 Sqn documentary which is available on DVD.

I thought as much, but confusing since the other film was also about 303 Squadron!

More seriously, I can confirm that the family are not best pleased they were not contacted or consulted. That would have been easy for anyone with a bit of nous and perhaps a bit of an oversight on the part of the production company. Obviously, any family would be concerned and wish to know, as a matter of courtesy, and also want to know how about the treatment of the subject matter.

Look on the bright side at least they have not gone for the obvious (and the name to pull in the “Punters”) but unfortunately in-accurate “SPITFIRE”
