Is this fighter really that heavy? The X-35 has a whooping empty weight of 12,010kgs yet an F-15C has an empty weight of something like almost 13,000kgs. The F-16C’s empty weight is someting like 8,677kgs.

With the production F-35 coming out now has gone overweight with over 3000lbs which is someting like 1,400kgs, the F-35A will surpass the F-15C easily and will weigh something like 35% more than F-16C. Not to mention that but the F-35’s performance is lower than that of F-15’s in terms of range, thrust and speed.

But the question is, is the F-35 really affordable?
