During a recent aviation visit to the MAKS airshow in Moscow, I picked up a few brochures on the various trade stands.
I have only just got around to browsing through them – and the attached scan caught my eye……
It is in a glossy brochure from the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant – makers of the Mil Mi-8 helicopter and Su-25 Frogfoot.
Amongst the many pics of Mi-8’s is this one showing a Mi-8 about to lift the fuselage of what is obviously a Junker Ju-52/3M…..
Does anyone out there have any more details of this??
Is it in Russia ?? Is it being restored ?? Do you already know about it ??
Intrigued…………….

Soviet Ju 52
Ken,
The Ju 52 was recovered in 2003. From memory, it served with the Luftwaffe during WWII, was captured and later saw service with the Soviet Air Force post-war. Its WkNr is not known AFAIK. It’s currently in storage in Novosibirsk – from what I read in CW, it will be rebuild to fly using ASh-62IR engines. You can view some photos here and here.
