Hi

I agree about rarer UK machines – anything is possible – nobody thought the Buffalo would turn up or the Ju88 or the He111 or the B17 or the P61 or the ………

I believe there is the potential for much more to happen we just need to be patient and if possible help in whatever way we can.

If those in the UK with the skills were to identify as far as possible where and when the aircraft went missing and research sites etc this would help locate this sort of thing – remember the Loch Ness Wellington etc

I am not saying people aren’t doing this now but even more help would assist.

Regards
John P

Too bad not all relics of the war are found in such good condition.

About 39 or so photographs taken during the recovery of the engines have now been uploaded online http://www.adressa.no/bildegallerier/article.jhtml?articleID=509630 Really good close up pics and the engines look in remarkable condition considering the amount of time they have been submerged.

The latest from the lake is that three engines have now been recovered as well as the tail section of the Ju88. They are due to be taken ashore and transported to Gardermoen tomorrow and that will be the end of the recovery operation.

The tail section is from a different aircraft and includes the rear fuselage up to the bomb bay Code 4D+??

Why aren’t they raising the nose section? Is it badly damaged?

I don’t know aj, I haven’t heard anything further but will post if I hear anything.

Hi Cees

Why not it is still sitting there slowly rotting away looking like the ugly stepdaughter – what a shame – Still the Canucks showed them how it is done and perhaps they are soon to repeat the dose!!!!

Looking at the photographs I cannot help but notice the similarity of the state of preservation with Halifax W1048.

Shall I start the discussion about it’s restoration again…….? :diablo: :diablo:

Nâââaaaah!!!!!

Hi all

You have probably seen it all by now, but anyway, here are some more pictures. Both of the salvaged aircraft is probably on their way away from mid-Norway now, or by tomorrow.

Will be away on business for a couple of days and won’t be able to get to a pc to find out what is going on.

First pictures of the Ju88 on the surface are linked from this page with a note that more will be added as things progress http://home.no.net/jornaasl/jonsvatnet/ so it’s probably a good place to watch out. Also try http://f16.parsimony.net/forum28300/index.htm for news, they seem to be keeping a close eye on things.

I don’t remember where but I recall reading that both of these aircraft had their tail surfaces removed by the Germans before they sank. Can anyone confirm?

Quite possibly Chad, if you follow some of the links in the postings above you will see photos of the He 111 and what it looked like as it came out of the lake. I haven’t seen any photos of the Ju88 as yet.

Hi

Pardon the impatience but any news of the Ju88 yet

Kindest regards
John Parker

Hello yes, sorry, been out working at a motorbike convention all day! Right, word is that the Ju 88 is strapped and ready to lift, they hope to have it on the surface by this evening.

The He111 is almost ready for transportation to Germany having been partially dismantled. You can see some photographs of that which were taken today if you look here http://f16.parsimony.net/forum28300/index.htm and read the posts made by Morten Moe.

Och Aye

Well I am sorry I confused you !!!

No worries, that’s easy enough to do 🙂

A couple of friends of mine are down at the lake this weekend so hopefully they will be able see what is being pulled out aside from the two aircraft. Might not get an update from them until early next week but will post anything of interest I learn.

Do you have a schedule of where you will be and when during your visit yet?
