5’s or 9’s?
I’d love to see a proper Vampire (single seat type) on the airshow circuit in the UK. What are the chances?
As much as I like the 50’s jets, the T.11 Vampire looks like an egg with wings whereas the single-seat (original) version looks the bees-knees.
Can you imagine, having served on piston fighters and/or piston trainers and getting into a single-seat Vamp cockpit in the 50’s and taking it into the stratosphere. It must have been mind-bending – not having all that racket going on in front and the view so uncluttered.
I wish I could have ben there and in the position to experience the thrill of jet flight soon after the second world war.
Sorry, just me getting all romantic again.

Thanks Scorpion63,
VH-ZVZ / RRAF-119 (cn 15392), now what is the FB9 🙂
I believe that it was actually an ex-SAAF T-55 and had the Rhodesian serial R4221.
The one at the Central West Shopping Plaza is a FB52 R8128 ex SAAF 211.
The one at Moorabbin Air Museum is a FB52 R1382 ex SAAF 252.
Others are T-55 R2424 ex SAAF.
FB52 R1835(SAAF 245) and R1829(SAAF 216).
Anybody know those FB.9’s

And some 2 seaters which i think where normal T11s
She has one 2 seater flying and one single seater ground running.
And at least one of the fighters has found its way onto a pole in the middle of a carpark at a shoping center, how sad is that?
Thanks for the info, any idea of there identity though?
