July 9-13/06 Lancaster KB882 Work Days

Just and FYI and update for Lanc fans out there. Received word yesterday from City of Edmundston, NB officials that they have been conducting high level Provincial govenment meetings to secure funds for our hangar project!

We have set July 9-14th as our major work days this summer.

Last November myself and two other residents were successful in removing the #4 engine cowling to have a look at the condition of the Merlin…wasn’t it beautiful!

For the first time since 1986, stb outer engine saw daylight. We selected #4 because the engine appears to be seized from sitting. However, overall condition appears to be 95% complete with NO major system disconnections apparent.

All three other engines turn freely with little effort on the prop blades.

Present plan is to completely power wash airframe (gently might add), reinspect/clean interior and install air-exchanger system to control humidity, remove all engine inspection panels to document condition, bird nest prevention and to build small display case/information booth inside terminal bulding.

Working with two key individuals, I plan to write and submit to Flypast an article with photos for publication consideration.
