This may have been discussed on here before my time perchance…
Any other ex spaceys remember the mandatory pre flight film for Chimpmunk AEF flights?
Be nice to see it again for nostalgic reasons only… dodgy Oldfield-esque music and John wincing like a girl when he stands up to abandon ship. It always made me laugh how for this part the commentary would state that for the purposes of the film the aircraft is flying straight and level… as if. (Wonder what became of John in grown up life?)
Fine memories… parachutes bigger than you forcing you into weirder positions than seen on late night dutch tv…. silver spaceman bonedomes…
Ah glorious daze (sic)………

I do remember the film about weapon handling and range safety though, where the two guys are playing about with the SLR.
Dont remember that one either:(

Don’t remember the video at all. Our briefings were conducted by one of the pilots. Mind you they hadn’t got videos then, 1974-77. I do remember the film about weapon handling and range safety though, where the two guys are playing about with the SLR.

first time i saw it i missed it guess i was to excited to pay much attention hence i always put my parachute on wrong, and thought the yellow pull thingy inside the cockpit was for opening the canopy. Which dosent work when the canopy is already open
power to the spaceys;)

They were still using the same old ‘jump jump Johnnie’ video when I was flying with 6AEF in 1994-95.The tape was well knackered by then I can tell you!Good thing most of the older cadets seemed to know it off by heart,I hadn’t the faintest idea what was going on because the sound was so duff!
Happy daze indeed…:)
