Junkers 52/3m

I have a tiny black & white print, acquired in the UK, in the corner of which is an even tinier image of a pre-war Lufthansa (?) Junkers 52/3m – which I have extracted, as can be seen below. I’ve done my best with a magnifying glass and photoshop but I can’t identify its registration mark or the location. Can anyone out there succeed where I have failed?

Whilst I know that it’s not conclusive, the fact that I acquired the photo in the UK would suggest Croydon as being a more likely “where” than Berlin.

Curved apron, viewed from a vantage point, Berlin Templehof.

I’ll go with that as that was my first thought

Many thanks to all. As 75% go for Croydon as the “where”, I’ll mark the photo up as D-AHAL at Croydon at some time between 1934 and 1939.

Im 99% sure it is Croydon, the black and white wall in the background appears in the book ‘Croydon-the peaceful years’ in some of the late 30’s photos. Lufthansa JU52’s were daily visitors in the late 30’s.

I appreciated that the “where” would be far from easy as the amount of decipherable evidence in the picture is very limited and my attempts to enlarge that just reduce definition. Nonetheless I am grateful to those of you who have had a stab at it. Perhaps it’s time to call it a day!

Not much to go on!

Photo taken from above ground level…..terminal building viewing gallery? Concrete apron.

Northern hemisphere? Sun to the south (or east, or west )? So apron edge possibly running north-south…

…Croydon?

Complete guess obviously! 😮

Oh c’mon – someone must have an idea about the “where”!

Looks like D-AHAL to me, which would fit:

D-AHAL, Junkers Ju52/3mge, ‘Otto Bernert’, lsd Luftwaffe 00.10.1934, Destroyed 1944

Five minutes – cor, that’s some record! Anyone with any ideas of the location?
