Junkers Jumo 213 Engine & materials used question

I would like to know what material was used in the production of the engine blocks for the Junkers Jumo 213 series engine? If anyone has the specific material with D.I.N this would be appreciated

Was the same material also used for the other parts of the engine castings such as cylinder heads or gear box?

Did this differ from any of other inline engines such as the DB or the Rolls Royce Merlin?

Was the engine block of the 213 A models exactly the same as the 213E or did was the block also modified with the model changes as well. If you have references for this information I would be grateful.

Additionally, if there are any Junkers Jumo 213 series engines, cores or spare parts out there, I would be interested for a rebuild.

Thank you for the information

Thank you very much for all of your help, especially aeronut and the report found. If anyone has any moore information it would be very much appreciated

Additional Trick Question: We the engine blocks/cores of the 213A, the 213 E series and the 213F idential or did they differ in changes, tolerances/ dimensions. I belive the E and F may have been identical, but not sure abou the A model series.

Any information or insight would be appreciated

Looking through the reports the RAE didn’t seemed to be bothered with the crankcase materials but the rotating parts are usually fully investigated. However I found the following in RAE report EA M80.

“The crankcase of Jumo 211F1 engine No 514 was found to be a silicon-aluminium alloy casting similar to M.V.C. alloy (DTD 231) The diamond pyrimid hardness of a sample cut from the crankcase was 97-99, and the composition was as follows:-

Silicon 8.60%
Copper Trace
Nickel Nil
Magnesium 0.13
Iron 0.72
Manganese 0.35
Titanium 0.05
Zinc Nil
Cobalt Nil
Aluminium Remainder

A similar alloy was used for the crankcase and cylinder head (Cylinder block) of a Jumo 211A1 engine.”

I don’t have this information, but there is/was apparently a restoration of the 213A done by LTB Dirk Bende GmbH near Bonn, Germany. This engine might be for Jerry Yagen’s FW-190D project, but thats conjecture on my part.

They may have the specific information or know where to source it for you.

@TriangleP: This engine is not for Yagen´s project. Originally it was rebuilt for a German customer, who had to cancel the project years ago. The FW-190D project and engine went to Eric Vormezeele in Belgium AFAIK. Yagen´s one will be (is) rebuilt by Vintage V-12, aka Mike Nixon, Tehachapi (California).
